There is a gate going into the infant room that took special knowledge and more than one step to open. Dispute Description: Page 2 of 4 Non-Compliances: This section of the Inspection Report lists non-compliances found during any licensing inspection. Information from this section will be reported to Child Care Check and can be used to determine current and future licensing and enforcement actions. When the Fire Department visited the site along with my assigned Licensor, it was noted that the classroom did not have a secondary exit from the classroom space. I was instructed that a secondary exit was required, and one of the approved options provided was the installation of a baby gate. This item was one of several corrections identified during the visit. I elected to install the baby gate to meet the secondary exit requirement. Following this correction, the Fire Department conducted a second inspection, at which time the space was approved and my license was cleared. Licensing later returned to inspect the correction and approved the baby gate with the instruction that staff must be trained to ensure they are able to approach and open the gate without difficulty. All teaching staff have been trained on the proper use of the gate and understand how to operate it quickly and safely as part of emergency procedures. It is important to note that the baby gate is not the primary exit from the classroom. The primary exit remains a direct exit from the classroom to the outside. The gate serves solely as a secondary exit from the classroom space, as required.
