Why this rating

This daycare earned 5 out of 5 stars overall. Structural quality reflects a license in good standing. The structural rating also includes South Dakota's licensing baseline — what every licensed daycare in the state must meet. South Dakota caps infant ratios at 1:5, toddler ratios at 1:5, and preschool ratios at 1:10. Lead-teacher education isn't regulated. Teachers must complete 10 hours of annual training. No objective process measures (e.g., state quality rating or national accreditation) are available for this daycare. The overall rating reflects structural features only.

  8. Dec 7, 20232 Findings2 Important
    • 67:42:17:19 - Group Size - Center and School-age Programs67:42:17:19

Group size - in a space where more than 20 children were present, providers did not identify which children each provider was responsible to supervise. In spaces where more than twenty children are allowed, providers shall identify which children each provider is responsible to supervise. The program implemented a process in which providers identify which children each provider is responsible to supervise in groupings where 20 or more children are present.

    • 67:42:17:20 - Supervision - Center and School-age Programs67:42:17:20

Supervision - children in care were not adequately supervised. A center provider supervising children must be in the same room with the children, and must be able to see or hear the children at all times. The program submitted a written plan to the Office of Licensing and Accreditation (OLA) outlining measures that will be implemented to ensure children are supervised at all times. OLA will conduct an additional monitoring visit.
