Nevada's minimum legal requirements for adult-to-child ratios and group sizes fall below the standards published by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the leading professional accreditation body for early-childhood programs and the most widely cited benchmark for high-quality care, at the infant and preschool age bands. The state caps infant ratios at 1:6 (NAEYC: 1:4), toddler ratios at 1:6 (matching NAEYC), and preschool ratios at 1:13 (NAEYC: 1:10). Group sizes follow a similar pattern: infant groups at 12 (NAEYC: 8), toddler groups at 12 (matching NAEYC), and preschool groups at 26 (NAEYC: 20). Lead-teacher credentials and pre-service training hours are not set in state rule. Required ongoing professional development is 24 hours per year, close to NAEYC's recommended 25.
