The facility did not have documentation to show completion of a Department approved five-hour early literacy and language development course for child care personnel within 12 months of date of employment in child care industry and/or the early literacy course documentation was not uploaded in the Florida Pathways/Registry. CCF Handbook, Section 4.2.2 and 4.5, C Licensing Specialist observed an employee missing the required five-hour literacy and language course. Employee has been in the industry longer than 12-months. Provider had employee start the training during inspection. Provider advised Licensing Specialist that employee will not return to classroom until course is completed. Technical assistance was provided from the Child Care Facility Handbook: 4.2.2 Early Literacy Training Pursuant to Section 402.305(2)(e)5., F.S., all child care personnel must complete a single course of training in early literacy and language development of children ages birth through five years that is a minimum of five clock hours or .5 CEUs. Early literacy training must be completed within 12 months of date of employment in the child care industry. Proof of completion may be documented on a certificate of course completion, classroom transcript, or diploma. Child care personnel must complete one of the following: A. One of the Departments online literacy courses available on the Departments website. Child Care Facility Handbook Page | 41 B. One of the Departments approved literacy courses. A list of these courses can be obtained from the Departments website. (No additional courses will be approved by the Department.) C. One college level early literacy course (for credit or non-credit) if taken within the last five years.

Employment history check did not include all required information including applicants, job title, description of regular duties, confirmation of employment dates, and level of job performance. CCF Handbook, Section 5.1, D Licensing Specialist observed a staff member missing an employment history check prior to being employed. Provider completed the five- year history check during inspection. Licensing Specialist provided technical assistance from the Child Care Facility Handbook: 5 Background Screening 5.1 Initial Screening D. The employer/owner/operator must conduct employment history checks, including documented attempts to contact each employer that employed the individual within the preceding five years, and documentation of the findings. Documentation must include the applicants job title and description of his/her regular duties, confirmation of employment dates, and level of job performance. The employer/owner/operator must make at least three attempts to obtain employment history information. Failed attempts to obtain employment history must be documented in the personnel file and include date, time, and the reason the information was not obtained.

The childcare facility operators, employees, and volunteers must comply with written disciplinary and expulsion policies. Technical Assistance was provided. Completed at time of inspection. Teacher listed on Supplemental was sent home and had to take Behavioral Guidance Training. This training was completed on 10/03/2024. The teacher admitted to using inappropriate interaction with the child. This teacher is no longer employed at this facility.
